Golden Start for Ulster

The opening day of the 2010 Irish Youth Open Championships brought considerable success to Ulster swimmers.

The jewel in the crown was a spectacular 1-2-3 in the Womens 50 metre Breaststroke.

Belfast Leander club's European Junior Bronze medallist Sycerika Mc Mahon collected the gold medal in 32.85 seconds, Sycerika was followed home by Alison Todd (City of Belfast) 32.25 and Ashleigh Hyland (Bangor) 34.25.

Sycerika McMahon also won the 15 under 200 metre butterfly in a creditable 2 mins 18.69 secs.
