FINA final 2010 suit list

On 4th January 2010, FINA issued its final list of suits approved for use in competition in 2010. Until such time as we receive further guidance from FINA, Swim Ireland will continue to allow all swimsuits which are either listed on the final FINA list or meet the following criteria

Swimsuits for men may not extend above the navel or below the knee and for women may not cover the neck or extend past the shoulders or below the knee

No zippers or other fastening devises are allowed except for a waist tie on a brief or jammer

Suits must be of textile material and must not be made of any rubberized type of material such as polyurethane or neoprene.

Please note that while the information below will be adequate for upcoming national events, all international LEN and FINA events will require swimmers to wear only FINA approved suits; ie suits on the FINA list of Jan 4th and identified by a "FINA Approved" patch and number. All approved suits are tested for the criteria noted below and also for construction, buoyancy and permeability

Should you have any questions on this please contact the Swim Ireland office. We wish to put a notice on the website so I would appreciate your comments by next Tuesday 2nd February.
