 Thursday, 30th July 

Ireland had a mixed day of performances today on day 5 of competition at the World Swimming Championships in Rome, Italy. 21-year old Clare Dawson swam her way to a new Irish Senior Record in the women's 100m freestyle, in 56.32. In the same heat, Fiona Doyle clocked 56.96 - 0.39 seconds off her best time which she recorded earlier in the week on the lead off leg of the 4x100m freestyle relay.

Ireland's Ryan Harrison and Barry Murphy both recorded new Irish Senior Records on Wednesday, 29th July in the men's 100m freestyle at the World Swimming Championships in Rome. Murphy, who raced in the heat ahead of Ryan first lowered the previous Irish record mark (49.98) to 49.76. Then Harrison, swimming in the following heat subsequently bettered Murphy's time to finish in 49.49 - and a new Irish Senior record. 

Ulster Swimmers again showed their potential at the Irish Youth / Open LC Championships in the NAC 23-26^th July 2009.

  In the Men’s 50m Breast Stroke Michael Dawson took gold, setting a new Irish Junior Record and qualified for the European SC Championships in Istanbul in December. Simon Dickson took the silver medal. Alison Todd (C.o.B) took silver in the women’s event.  

50m Butterfly Steven McQuillan took gold and set a new Irish Record in this event for the 4^th time this season and qualified for the European Championships in December.
