The London 2012 Olympics will require the input of 70,000 volunteers. The Games organisers will soon start to recruit these volunteers, to be called London 2012 Games Makers.

The Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games Council has announced the names of the 10 swimmers to represent Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in October 2010.

They are:

Men: Andrew Bree (Ards), Conor Leaney (Larne), Michael Dawson (Ards), Ryan Harrison (City of Derry) and Laurence McGivern (Newry and Mourne, parasports).

Women: Bethany Carson (Lisburn City), Chelsey Wilson (Enniskillen Lakelanders), Clare Dawson (Bangor), Melanie Nocher (Ards) and Sycerika McMahon (Leander).

Colleen Mallon set a new course record in the East Coast adventure swim from Rostrevor to Warrenpoint on Saturday 24^th July in a time of 51.13.

The lessons are for complete beginners from the age of 4 up.
